The UKOnline Social Impact Demonstrators project was set up to encourage new approaches to tackling social exclusion through ICT.

Starting in January 2007 the Project involved Windhill Community Centre, Bolton Woods Community Centre and Shipley College working together to provide facilities and support for local people. The Project also linked in with the Street Reps and with Kevin Harris from Local Level.

Marge Ellis coordinated sessions in the Centres and tutors Julie and Yanka ran them, with the support of crèche places. Community Development Workers Alison, Carol & Cathy encouraged new people to have a go on the computers and support the project with publicity etc.

The projects supported the government's action plan on Social Exclusion, Reaching Out, by engaging some of the most excluded groups including families in poverty, teenage parents and teenagers at risk of becoming pregnant and older people.
