Nutritional Development Work

Introduction

Our Nutritional Development Worker Nazia Naureen has been in post since mid August.  We now have some new interesting things happening:- Cook & Eats, Walking Groups, Nutritional Information Sessions, Weaning Sessions and Day trips out.

Nazia is still working alongside the volunteers in the café on Tuesday and Wednesday and is linking in with the Food Co-op buying fruit and vegetables for the Café meals.  She is also buying fruit and vegetables for her Cook & Eats from the Food Co-op. So if you have a flavour for food, why not volunteer in the café? Come and give it a trial run and see how you feel.  Contact Nazia for more information.

You can try out some of Nazia’s recipes on the cafe page.

Nutritional Information Session

Nazia has also linked in with the Exercise class on Wednesday mornings, to deliver an informal nutritional information session.   The sessions have been running since November, the information session will involve individuals keeping food diaries, weighing & measuring sheets and talks on health topics i.e. salts, fats, sugars and food labelling etc with a creative twist.  These sessions are ongoing and individuals can pop in when it suits them and do not have to be committed to the course.

Timetable: every Weds 10.00am – 10.30am at Windhill Community Centre.

For more information and dates please ring the centre on 588831/42 as the sessions will not run through holidays.
