Yeadon Tarn Toddle - Apr2010 - Photos and Report below

Toddlers Toddle at Yeadon Tarn - April 2010

Another successful event! It wasn’t a sunny day but none the less the children were looking forward to the trip. We had 43+ adults and children on the list but unfortunately only 33 turned up.

Some of the children had not been on a coach before so were very excited.

We all met at the school and loaded all the children and adults in the coach.  Once strapped in, we were ready to go! On the bus the children sang the nursery rhyme ‘the wheels on the bus’.  They also spotted all the different animals in the fields.

We arrived at Yeadon Tarn at 9.40am and we started with allowing the children and adults play in the play area.  Angie asked the families if they had been to Yeadon Tarn before and apart from a few people everyone else had been before.  I heard comments such as:

“Wow”

“This is really nice”

“I am surprised at the children, they are really confident in the play area”

The children played for a short while and we then went to feed the hungry ducks.  We even had some baby ducklings.  The children were very excited to see them and they all wanted to feed them.  After feeding the ducks we went for a very long walk around the beautiful lake.  The children were talking about all the different things they could see and hear which included aeroplanes flying very low above us and a dead frog in the water!  The walk has many benefits including; healthy lifestyle messages, fresh air, educational and most importantly quality time for parents/carers with the children.  It also gives individuals an opportunity to venture out.

After the long walk we all sat down to have a well deserved snack break.  There was lots to choose from.  We had strawberries, satsumas, plums, grapes and milk.

I heard comments such as:

“I love strawberries”

“Please can I have more?”

“Have we got any apples and bananas?”

I had parents come up to me and say:

“Thank you.”

Everyone was so busy enjoying themselves that we lost track of time!

Overall the event was a great success.  We have a walk set in the Dales in May.
